About Windows on the Sacred

We are amphibious beings, living in spiritual reality, as well as physical reality. When we are touched by the physical, we also, in some way, are touched by spirit. Every ordinary thing can become a window, providing us a glimpse into the sacred. This blog will explore how ordinary things — like pine needles, grass, butterflies, and bridges — can provide us insight into the deeper reality hinted at by all reality.
Before I go any further, let me introduce myself. I’m Len Sroka, a retired technical writer and producer of training programs for Kodak. In a few years my wife Sue and I look forward to celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our four children and our grandchildren.
The tradition in which I was raised, and still practice, is Catholic. I also think of myself as catholic (universal) — one who is open to the wisdom of all spiritual traditions. I believe that the Spirit moves in all people of integrity who earnestly search the world, the cosmos, and their lives for signs of the sacred.
In this blog, our explorations will be guided by visionaries like Abraham Heschel, rabbi and scholar, who referred to the sacred as the Holy Dimension, and Teilhard de Chardin, priest and scientist, who referred to it as the Divine Milieu. The following videos express how they lived in deep connection with the God they discovered everywhere.
